About Us
The Emergency Department at LewisGale Medical Center, which is eight miles from the Appalachian Trail, treats approximately 67,000 patients per year and is growing. We are also one of Virginia's newest Level II Trauma Centers, staffed 24-hours a day by board-certified trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, critical care physicians, and trauma trained nurses. We have the volume and diversity of patients necessary to teach you to care for whatever comes your way.
Our teaching faculty have a wide diversity of skill-sets, backgrounds and interests that will expand your comfort zone. You will have the opportunity to master the fundamentals of patient care, expand your medical knowledge, pursue scholarly activity, and explore select sub-specialty interests.

Located in Roanoke, VA. Where our residents get exposure to community EM bread and butter.

Located in Richmond, VA. Our Level I trauma training ground, with exposure to Peds EM and PICU.
